Many brokerages now incorporate 'agents' into the sales and marketing functions. 'Agents' are independent contractor entities that bring their customers and carriers to the transportation market, but are not brokerage or intermediaries. Agents typically associate themselves with a fully functioning brokerage business so that they don't have to invoice, carry receivables, process carrier invoices, or operate the 'backoffice' of a business.
Our brokerage software incorporates a full set of features to handle the special 'agent' relationship. Agents can enter their own customers, enter their loads, dispatch carriers, check call, see all accounting information associated with their activity. They cannot see other other brokerage or other agent business. They share the shipper, consignee, and carrier information available to all users. Their commissions, sales, and other financial information is also available to them.
Brokerage managers can coordinate and monitor agent activity using the same tools available for the entire brokerage and its employees.
